Shammah

Shammah the son of Jesse the Bethlehemite

Rejected by the LORD while Samuel was searching Jesse's sons for the next king. (1 Samuel 16:1-13)

When he was advanced in years, his oldest sons, Eliab, Abinadab, and Shammah followed Saul in battle against the Philistines, camping in the Valley of Elah against the camps between Socoh and Azekah. When David came to visit the camp, he met his brothers. He then heard Goliath's challenge and fought him. (1 Samuel 17:12-29)

When David was fleeing Saul and hid in the cave of Adullam, David's brothers and all his father's house joined him as soon as they heard about it. When 400 men gathered under David, he took Jesse and his wife to Mizpeh of Moab and left them with their king until the prophet Gad told David to return to Judah. They went into the forest of Hereth. (1 Samuel 22)

Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite

One of the three of David's mighty men whose chief was Josheb-basshebeth. Shammah was the son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines gathered together at Lehi, where there was a plot of ground full of lentils, and the men fled from the Philistines. But he took his stand in the midst of the plot and defended it and struck down the Philistines and the LORD worked a great victory. (2 Samuel 23:8,11-12)
