Jude

The guy

AKA Judas.

A servant of Jesus Christ. He wrote the book of Jude. (Jude 1:1)

Book of Jude

One of the Books of the Bible in the New Testament.

(The ESV Study BibleTM, English Standard Version (ESV) by Crossway Bibles, 2007. Page 2447)

The first three outstanding church fathers, Clement, Polycarp, and Ignatius, used the bulk of the New Testament in a revealingly casual manner, indicating authenticated Scriptures were accepted as authoritative without argument. In their writings, only Mark (which closely parallels Matthew's material), 2 John, 3 John, Jude, and 2 Peter were not clearly attested. By the early 4th century, Jude was accepted by a majority by the Church but still disputed by some.

Apocryphal References

Michael contends with the devil for Moses' body

Jude 1:9 - But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.”

Origen mentioned The Assumption of Moses was extant in his time and contained this account between Michael and the devil and he supposed this is the source of this verse.

Enoch's prophecy

Jude 1:14-15 - It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones, to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”

1 Enoch 1:9 - And behold! He cometh with ten thousands of ⌈His⌉ holy ones / To execute judgement upon all, And to destroy ⌈all⌉ the ungodly: / And to convict all flesh / Of all the works ⌈of their ungodliness⌉ which they have ungodly committed, / And of all the hard things which ungodly sinners ⌈have spoken⌉ against Him.
