Bethel


Abram

The Lord told Abram to go to a country that He will show him, so Abram traveled through Canaan. On that journey, he went through the hill country on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east and built an altar and called upon the name of the Lord. (Genesis 12)

On his way back to Egypt, Abram returned to his old altar at Bethel and called upon the name of the Lord. Here, Abram suggested they split ways, and Abram settled in Canaan while Lot settled in Sodom in the Jordan Valley. (Genesis 13)

Samuel

Samuel judged in a circuit between Bethel, Gilgal, Mizpah, and Ramah. (1 Samuel 7:15-17)

Saul and two thousand men camped in Michmash and the hill country of Bethel while Jonathan defeated the Philistine garrison at Geba. The Israelites moved to Gilgal, while as many Philistines as there is sand on the shore encamped in Michmash, to the east of Beth-aven. (1 Samuel 13:2-17)

David shares Amalekite spoils with all the places where David and his men had roamed after their raid on Ziklag

David recovered the people and things of Ziklag from the band of Amalekite raiders and additional spoils. When he returned to Ziklag, he sent part of the spoil to his friends, the elders of Judah, saying, "Here is a present for you from the spoil of the enemies of the LORD." It was for those in Bethel, Ramoth of the Negeb, Jattir, Aroer, Siphmoth, Eshtemoa, Racal, the cities of the Jerahmeelites and Kenites, in Hormah, Borashan, Athach, Hebron, for all the places where David and his men had roamed. (1 Samuel 30)
