Agag

Agag the king of the Amalekites

Samuel told Saul that the LORD wanted every Amalekite and their livestock - men, women, children, oxen, sheep, camels, and donkey - destroyed for opposing Israel when they came out of Egypt.

Saul captured Agag alive. Saul brought him to Gilgal. Samuel came to Saul, criticized him, then asked for Agag. Agag came to him cheerfully, saying, "Surely the bitterness of death is past." But Samuel said, "As your sword has made women childless, so shall your mother be childless among women." Then Samuel hacked Agag to pieces before the LORD in Gilgal. (1 Samuel 15)
