I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear. ~ Nelson Mandela
Fear robs us of our peace and faith, dulls our senses, confuses us, and causes irrationality. It can be a small dread or a paralyzing force, but it is a spiritual force and can only be conquered by a greater spiritual force - faith in God. Fear is a choice, and Jesus said "fear not." Fight fear with words. Say "Jesus has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind. I will not be afraid because Jesus said not to. When I am tempted to fear, I will see you made me secure, capable, and free.

Fear of the Lord
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; / fools despise wisdom and instruction. - Proverbs 1:7
If you receive the words of Proverbs, make your ear attentive to wisdom, incline your heart to understanding, call out for insight, raise your voice for understanding, seek it like silver, search for it as for hidden treasures, you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. (Proverbs 2:1-5)
