Samuel told Saul the LORD wanted him to destroy Amalek and all their livestock for how they treated Israel when they came out of Egypt. He summoned his forces to Telaim and, after warning the Kenites to flee after their kindness shown to Israel as they came out of Egypt, Saul and two hundred thousand foot soldiers and ten thousand men of Judah defeated the Amalekites from Havilah as far as Shur.
