Javan's Son
From these the coastland peoples spread in their lands, each with his own language, by their clans, in their nations. - Genesis 10:5
A wise man and one of the princes of Persia and Media.
In King Ahasuerus's third year, he showed his glory before his province for 180 days then held a 7-day feast in the court of the garden for all the people in Susa.
On the seventh day, the king was drunk and ordered by 7 eunuchs, Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar, and Carkas, for Vashti to show the people her beauty, but she refused. He asked the wise men next to him, the seven princes of Persia and Media, Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, her punishment. Memucan suggested an order that she never be allowed before Ahasuerus again and that all women give honor to their husbands, though he said it will cause all women to look at their husbands with contempt. This pleased the king, so he sent letters to all 127 provinces. (Esther 1)
