Maon

David fled the wilderness of Ziph to the wilderness of Maon, in the Arabah to the south of Jeshimon. Saul pursued him. David heard and went down to the rock and lived in the wilderness, evading Saul, until Saul nearly had him before a messenger interrupted him with news of a Philistine raid. (1 Samuel 23:24-29)

David went to the wilderness of Paran, where his men protected the nearby shearers of Nabal, a rich man in Maon whose business was in Carmel. Nabal angered him, but Abigail subdued him. When Nabal died, he sent for Abigail as a wife. (1 Samuel 25)
