Breathing involves the ability to speak. It is a vehicle of language and information.
Adam’s head represents the first principle (wisdom) as the source of meaning for the body. The head provides a unifying principle to answer the dark (subconscious) enigmas of the flesh. In exchange, the body expresses and supports the head with the actions of the arms and legs.

Etymology
In Hebrew, “head” implies “first principle.” It also implied in the English words “head,” “captain,” “chief,” etc.
