Aquila

A proselyte and disciple of Rabbi Akiba. A translator of the Bible into Greek.

To answer the inconsistent Septuagint popular among Christians, Aquila produced an extremely literal translation in A.D. 130. It was difficult to read in Greek, but it became widely accepted by Jews.

Origen's Hexapla included his translation.
