Rationalism

After the Reformation, rationalism arose in the 18th century. This time period is called the Renaissances, Age of Enlightenment, Age of Reason, etc.

It was characterized by an optimistic confidence in critical human reason and a disdain for supernatural influences in human affairs. They made the first serious claims that the Bible was like any other human book and was fallible, leading to misunderstandings, falsifications of the nature and content of Scripture.
