“My heart exults in the Lord; my horn is exalted in the Lord. My mouth derides my enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation." - 1 Samuel 2:1
The favorite but barren wife of Elkanah. During yearly worship, she prayed that she would give her son back, and she did dedicate the son she conceived. Samuel became a judge.
The LORD closed her womb, but Elkanah loved her, gave her a double portion, and comforted her. The other wife, Peninnah, tried to provoke her, especially during yearly worship at the LORD's house in Shiloh. She prayed so fervently in her heart that she'd give her son back, the priest Eli thought her drunk, but she told him she was speaking from great anxiety and vexation. Eli asked her to go in peace and may God grant her petition, and she conceived. After Samuel was weaned, she gave him to Eli and worshiped.
She prayed a prayer, exalted in the LORD with none beside Him. He brings low and he exalts! He will guard His faithful and break His adversaries to pieces! She visited Samuel yearly and gave him a new linen ephod. Eli blessed Elkanah, and Hannah had three more sons and two daughters.
